What are your options? |

|
Option 1 |
Enroll in Medicare and utilize the plan under the governments supervision. The government will take a nominal fee directly from your social security for Part B. Starting January 2005 an additional $37 will be taken out of your social security for Part D. This works as a traditional indemnity policy where you will have copays and deductibles to meet.

| Option 2 |
Assign your Medicare benefits over to an HMO. (The most popular ones in CA are Secure Horizons, Health Net, SCAN, and Kaiser.) Utilizing your Medicare money from the government the HMO designs a plan filling in most of the gaps while providing additional perks. The big positive about Medicare HMOs is that it is at no additional cost to the member, the drawback is that the member is now restricted to the HMO network of doctors.

| Option 3 |
Purchase a “Medigap” plan to fill in the gaps of your Medicare plan. There are several levels of Medigap plans to purchased. The more comprehensive plan you purchase the more expensive it will cost. NOTE: Medigap plans are only guaranteed issue within the first six (6) months of turning 65 or first six (6) months of leaving a qualified group plan. Meaning you will have to be approved by underwriting after this time has expired and any ailments will most likely automatically decline you. |
